IMPORTANT POWERSCHOOL UPDATE

Parents and Guardians,The following email contains important information regarding how to access the entire PowerSchool system. Please be sure to carefully read and follow the steps below.

PowerSchool has released free mobile apps for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch: PowerSchool for Parents and PowerSchool for Students (available from the App Store).

In order for these applications to function correctly with the system at Great River School, a change in the login procedure for parents and guardians has been made. These changes will not affect students. Students will continue to use their current system-defined access credentials.

Single Sign On (SSO) is a more secure, reliable, and convenient approach to logging into both the PowerSchool website and the PowerSchool mobile applications. SSO allows parents and guardians to create personal login credentials for use in gaining access to the system. This enables parents with multiple students enrolled at Great River School to use one set of credentials to access all of their students’ information. The credentials will be personal and set by the user with one set per family, instead of the current system-defined credentials which require unique logins for each student.

TO CREATE AN ACCOUNT FOR THE FIRST TIME:
When you go to the PowerSchool website (http://greatriverschool.powerschool.com), click the “Create Account” registration button below the login and password fields to begin the process of creating your credentials. When you reach the registration page, you will be asked to input your desired username and password, as well as standard personal information.

TO CREATE AN ACCOUNT IF YOU HAVE STUDENTS AT GRS BUT HAVE NOT CREATED AN ACCOUNT:
When you go to the PowerSchool website (http://greatriverschool.powerschool.com), your old credentials will no longer be accepted. Please click the “Create New User” registration button below the login and password fields to begin the process of creating your new credentials. When you reach the registration page, you will be asked to input your desired username and password, as well as standard personal information. After confirming an available username and a secure password, please enter the old“Access ID” and the old “Access Password” that you have used up until now for each student in the “Link to Student” fields on the registration page. Once you have finished entering the old information for each of the students that you would like to access under one family account, click “submit” to finish the process.

You may now use your new SSO credentials to access each enrolled student’s information in PowerSchool, both online and on the new mobile application. Keep in mind, this process is still necessary even if you only have one enrolled student at Great River School. Once again, this does NOT apply to students. Students may continue using their current system-defined access credentials. 

With the new mobile applications, parents can easily view each child’s progress in a single feed to check grades and review assignments. Students can access the same information with some additional personal class and assignment tracking features. Also included in both apps is the option for students and parents to share classroom information through Facebook and Twitter. The app is available from the app store, downloadable through these links.
