Extracurricular Activities
The Montessori philosophy supports the
self-expression and health and wellness of each adolescent.
Students are encouraged to participate in team sports, sport
clubs, music clubs, and/or other clubs.
Clubs
Maria Montessori advocated independent
learning. Students can develop clubs and groups at Great River
School based on their interests. Possible options include:
school newspaper, photography, jazz/rock group, cycling, Lego
league, and political groups.
Athletics
Team sports at the Junior High level
include intramurals and competition with other like schools.
Team sports at the High School level will compete in a sports
conference in the Twin Cities Metro Area.
At least one sport will be offered per
season based on student interest. Examples: soccer, cross
country running, volleyball, basketball, tennis, softball, and
baseball.
